Beijing International Airport Train Transfers
Beijing Capital International Airport has its very own train station, which can be accessed from Terminal 3, where the Transportation Center is located.
The Beijing Subway can also be boarded at the Transportation Center. It links the city with the airport and the terminals 2 and 3. This service is called the Airport Express Line and Beijing Airport trains first transport passengers from the Terminal 3 building on a 17.5 mile track to Terminal 2 and from there to the city of Beijing. Trains from Beijing Airport stop at Sanyuanqiao and Dongzhimen before reaching the city. The whole journey into central Beijing takes around 16 to 20 minutes to complete. A single adult tickets costs RMB 25.
Passengers arriving at Terminal 1 should take the free shuttle bus which connects all three terminal buildings. The shuttle leaves at 10 minute intervals between the hours of 6.00 am to 11.00 pm and every 30 minutes between the hours of 11.00 pm to 6.00 am.
Beijing City has three major railway stations: Beijing Railway Station, Beijing West Railway Station and Beijing South Railway Station.
Passengers looking to board long-distance trains from any one of these railway stations should either take Airport Express trains from Beijing Capital International Airport to Beijing Railway Station or take one of the many Airport Shuttle buses and local bus lines that serve the various train stations. A single journey on a local bus costs just RMB 16.00 for an adult ticket.
Local bus line 3 travels from the airport to Beijing Railway Station at regular intervals during the day. Local bus line 7 travels to Beijing West Railway and local Line 10 takes passengers to Beijing South Railway Station.
Tickets can be purchased at the various railway stations and at the airport in the Transportation Center and for the buses tickets can be purchased from offices near the various pick up and drop off bus stop locations in the airport compound.
Before leaving the airport's terminal for Beijing Airport trains, passengers should ensure they have all they require for their stay. It is very convenient to use the Post Office for mail, sales of foreign newspapers and guide books or buy public telephone IC cards from various outlets at Terminal 3, where passengers can also obtain rechargeable cards and IP cards.
The terminals also offer foreign currency exchange facilities, ATM's and automatic exchange machines and there are several banks, where traveler's cheques are bought and sold, like Bank of China at Terminal 2 for example or the Bank of Beijing, which is located east of T3-C in the arrivals hall public area on the second floor.
Perhaps also important to families with children: after a long flight kids need to let off steam and have a little bit of quality play to look forward to. Boarding crowded Airport Express trains from Beijing Capital International Airport with a grumpy four-year-old is no pleasure! The terminals offer wonderful Kid Activity Zones with many different toys for children. Here little travelers can also watch some interesting cartoons and have some fun. A relaxed toddler is a happy one and that makes travel on Beijing trains far more pleasant for all concerned!
